Welcome! I am Patricia Bolger

I'm excited to announce that I am seeking re-election as CBE School Board Trustee. Our Board of Trustees has a lot of work ahead of us in the coming months and I am committed to focusing on this during the remainder of our term together.  I look forward to sharing more about my campaign in June.

ABOUT PATRICIA

Patricia holds a Master of Education (Science) and a Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alberta and has over a decade of experience teaching in Edmonton and Calgary area public schools.

Patricia is currently serving as Board Chair of the Calgary Board of Education, in her first term as Trustee for Wards 6 & 7. She previously taught at the University of Calgary in the Werklund School of Education as a Sessional and Field Instructor.  Working with our future educators is a role she loved!

Meet Patricia
* Updated photo coming sometime soon!*

Patricia and her husband Paul have three children, now young adults. They all attended Calgary Board of Education schools including Jennie Elliott, Bishop Pinkham, Griffith Woods, Ernest Manning, and Central Memorial. All three are now off to different universities and playing the sports they love!

Patricia is a proud member of her community association and served on the Discovery Ridge Community Association Board for over a decade.  Over the years, Patricia has enjoyed serving on the Boards of various non-profits and sports organizations, managing teams and, of course, volunteering in her children's schools.

Patricia enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her friends and family, and reading great books with her bookclub. In her spare time Patricia can be found cheering on her favourite players in countless hockey rinks and lacrosse fields across the country and beyond.

AS TRUSTEE, PATRICIA WILL -

  • be accessible and responsive to Calgarians, parents and school councils,

  • advocate to government to ensure the needs of the CBE are met and fully understood,

  • support policies that are in the best interests of students,

Working Together

Every four years during the City of Calgary’s municipal election seven CBE School Trustees are elected (one Trustee per two Wards). The Board’s job is to represent, lead and serve Calgarians and to govern the CBE. Trustees do not solely represent their wards but rather work together in the best interests of the entire organization.

The Superintendent

The Board of Trustees has one employee, the Chief Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent is responsible for meeting the expectations set forth by the Board.

Stakeholders

Trustees also work with key stakeholders and advocate the needs of the system with elected officials (MLAs and City Councillors).  They communicate with students, employees, parents and citizens to engage all stakeholders in the work of the Board and the organization.
